Jordan Burchel releases new single “Duck Yourself”

Jordan Burchel is releasing his new single “Duck Yourself” today.

We sat down with Jordan to see what this new release was all about:

JORDAN: “A bit about the song: Lyrically the tune is about spending time alone, and the interior world you develop during that time. As I was writing the song I thought a lot about traveling alone (though that doesn't happen these days) and the dissociative effect it can have: alone in an airport in a city where nobody knows you, you could be anybody.

Those moments allow us to escape ourselves, which can be nice, since we almost always seem to be hanging around.

With some distance from the writing process, I think the sonics of the song are a reminder to come back. The lyrics are taking a somewhat adversarial relationship to the "self" on the other end of the conversation; the music is softening that tone.

The title came from an iphone autocorrect error! And ducks I suppose. The absurdity of the title was, I think, the final piece of the puzzle.”
