Tucker Joenz

Many a musician has been immortalized in time with a photo, but what is often not realized is that the true artist in such instances is unseen. It is in fact, the one behind the lens. Tucker Joenz is such an artist. He is a creator with a list of talents that include: Photographer, Film Maker, Developer, Motion Graphics, Designer and Illustrator. That first one is what many of us know him for. While he works in many areas of photography, Tucker has a true love for capturing musicians. His work has put him backstage, in the pit and on tour with bands like Pepper. Narrow itself has benefitted many times from his work as several of his photos have graced our pages. Tucker also has a heart for community and is often working with musicians and different artistic projects in the local area of St. Augustine since moving here 7 years ago. With this community spirit, STArt Now and Tucker have found an organic partnership. His work has been on display at pop up events and he himself has been the photographer of choice many times. With his support and great talent it is no surprise Tucker Joenz has become the main and most referred photographer for STArt Now.

Angie Edginton

Angie Edginton may be a familiar name around town, but if you don’t know her for her art then you should.  Her style is completely unique and mind blowing, and it is this quality that drew STArt Now to her. Angie first started sketching when she was blank and came back to it later in life.  Her portraits are a blend of styles that create an undeniable realistic piece of art. When she was ready to branch out into incorporating color and pastels STArt Now was there to provide her with the tools she needed to keep creating her beautiful art.  Her work is displayed primarily at The Lovely Pearl, but you can also check her work out at blank.

Sam Shin

Sam Shin is mostly known around town as the Cello man who gives amazing hugs. Sam is classically trained and has taken that skill and applied it to almost any genre of music. He collaborates with many different musical acts around town including Sailor Jane and the Swell Acoustics and more recently with Alex Peramas, Bret Blackshear, and Colton McKenna amongst many many others- too many to name in fact.  When the idea of STArt Now first started Sam was one of the first to volunteer his time and ideas while opening the doors to what it is really like for a gigging musician. He has always championed the mental health of artisans and is currently working with STArt Now to develop a way to keep our towns artists and musicians minds happy. Sam’s newest passionate venture is playing with Ryan Mahon at Now & Zen for Steffanie Mahon’s New Moon yoga class, but you can still catch Sam and his positive energy downtown on Saturdays from 9 pm to midnight  at Barley Republic for Sam Shin and Friends. Luke Otto

Luke Otto is a fairly new name in the St Augustine music scene, but he is making everyone a believer in his skill and passion for music. His style is unlike any other floating around our streets right now. You can hear his influences of Blues and Reggae vocally and instrumentally. He first picked up the guitar at age 12 and decided to be a professional 3 years ago.

STArt Now was more than happy to support him when we ran across him at his day job at The Amp St Augustine which goes to show his whole life is centered around his passion for music, and that is something we can get behind! He’s always picking up gigs around town but you can also catch him monthly at the Narrow Nights at the Oak Stage on Thursday nights. This month he will be playing Thursday January 9th from 9 -10 pm.

F Words (coming soon)

People today have many ways of being exposed to musicians. We listen to songs, read articles and occasionally go to a show. The list of ways to feel connected is constantly growing and with it we feel as if we know the artists. Recently, for musician Royce Lovett it was through television that fans had such a connection and knowing experience. Royce was on The Voice. While he did not win, he did have quite a time. Based on the reaction from those that watched, the connection made was quite positive. This is a response of which I am not surprised.
